“Plant a squash seed, and in 4-6 months, you’ll have a squash.  Plant an acorn, and in 20 years you’ll have an oak tree.” Author unknown

We can see how this applies to both individual players and teams. I’ve seen, in the past weeks recently, our Edge ladies show improvement in their individual skill sets and as a team. This has been a work in progress over time and the “fruits” of their hard work are definitely paying off.
Each practice, we do drills that help their individual defensive and offensive development.  I imagine that after weeks of this, some ladies wondered if this was doing any good. It didn’t happen quickly, and we don’t want to develop “flash in the pan” players.  It took time, as we want to develop long term, strong, young ladies who are both mentally and physically tough (like an oak).  And in our last few tournaments, these drills almost duplicated themselves in the field and our ladies executed them with confidence and precision.
So continue to be patient as they grow into a strong, durable, and hungry player. We coaches will.  See you on the diamond!
