March 1, 2019 Even so. . . These two words came to me about 3 weeks ago out of the ether-sphere. I liked the sound of them together and the power that they possess only when placed side by side. It's true, neither word stands out until connected together, and now, after finalizing our team, hours upon hours of practice and dedication, and yet another weekend washed away by the rain, I would like to put these two simple words to work!
Carolina Edge lost 5 girls from last year to attrition, age, or health issues. Even so, we picked up 4 new, strong, vibrant ladies, with so much to offer our team. We are so excited to see what is in store for this season and the new additions.
We haven't played a single game since November when we closed the season with a championship win. Even so, our enthusiasm for togetherness and team work has not diminished in the least. 10 girls at practice again last night --some covered in mud and tired from their school softball and volleyball games/practices. The engagement and dedication of our players and parents is unbelievably uplifting. To that point, we also had 4 fathers and 2 coaches last night at practice committed to seeing our daughters and Carolina Edge excel. I don't want to forget the mom's who sacrificed to get them there (with all of their equipment!) and/or to have dinner waiting when they got home. Wow and thank you!
Carolina Edge has struggled to get as much field time as we would like due to the weather. Even so, our speed, strength, and velocity, are all going up. Please see the attachment that shows our girl's hard work playing out in real data. Box-to- first speeds, over hand throw strengths, and bat exit velocity, are all on the rise for Edge softball. This doesn't just happen--these young ladies are MAKING it happen. Please share this email and the attachment with them if they don't receive it already.
Kudos to those ladies who have attained some of their individual goals. You are so much stronger than where you were. Even so, don't look back because there are other girls on different teams not too far from us putting in the work to be better than you. Make sure you stoke the flames of desire to be your very best---and then get BETTER! There is only one way to coast--and that's down hill. Keep pumping.
Like words that are more powerful side by side, better together, or whatever, so are the parents and players with Carolina Edge Softball. The rain is going to let up eventually and it will be show time. I don't know about you but I personally want this team to cause people to hit their buzzers and turn their chairs. I believe we are going to win, and win often, once we finally get a chance. We may also lose here and there. Even so, you all are to be applauded for your intense work and dedication.
